Ligia Richter

Program Coordinator, Culinary Careers Programs (C-CAP)

In 1987, Ligia left Honduras to attend The Restaurant School in Philadelphia. She then apprenticed at the Four Seasons Hotel's kitchen under Chef Jean Marie Lacroix for 10 years, working all the culinary and pastry stations.

When Ligia became a mother, she left the industry to raise her children. During this time she got involved in the nonprofit world as a volunteer. She learned a great deal about childhood cancer, fundraising, the beauty of a community rallying for one of its own, and turning a front yard lemonade stand into a global movement that evolved into a nonprofit foundation.

Once her children were grown, Ligia went back to her roots and started a dessert business, ¡Chúgar! Bakery, where she sold cakes and pastries to restaurants, caterers, and private events for five years.

Then in 2019, she took at job at "new" Four Seasons Hotel at the Comcast Technology Center, making pastries and learning about bread.

Most recently in September 2023, Ligia accepted a position as a Program Coordinator at Culinary Careers Programs (C-CAP). With her training and nonprofit experience, transitioning into a culinary nonprofit was a no-brainer. She hopes to continue to impact her students the same way her mentors did with her.
