Following ten years as a Home Ec teacher at South Philadelphia High School, Valarie embarked on her own catering business, Putting On the Ritz. She then proceeded to kick around the food world doing marketing for large food services and her own special events business, Andiamo. Then she ended her career back with the Philadelphia school district as the Culinary Arts director for 15 programs in the Career and Technical Education schools.
